Chapter Fourteen Bloodline Suppression

Yun Zhe stopped and looked at Ellie. Ellie's eyes shone brightly in the darkness, her icy blue pupils contrasting against the black night, reminding Yun Zhe of the eerie blue creatures he had seen in the sea during his sophomore year night swim. Strange, yet beautiful.

Ellie stared at him for a long time, then leaned down to check Alice's breath, and suddenly appeared in front of Yun Zhe the next second.

Yun Zhe instinctively raised one hand to block his chest, while simultaneously launching a fierce attack with the other. However, Ellie restrained him with one hand and then flung him away.

Yun Zhe had never encountered such an opponent before, the first time he had met someone whose strength and speed were evenly matched with his own. Underestimating his opponent, he accepted the attack and was knocked to the ground in a single round.

Yun Zhe got up, his instinct being to flee.

But Yun Zhe held back. He couldn't run away! He couldn't run away! Was he supposed to just run away whenever he encountered someone like himself? Was he only allowed to bully ordinary people weaker than himself? According to the chubby boy, there were not only ordinary people here, but also mages, paladins, and highly skilled warriors... Was he just going to keep running like this forever?

But my body still honestly wants to escape.

Yun Zhe frowned, focusing intently on his task, forcefully suppressing the urge to escape.

Ellie frowned as she watched Yun Zhe crawl, roll, and go back and forth on the grass. If it weren't for their earlier exchange, she would have thought he was searching for something.

Ellie walked up to Yun Zhe again and punched him in the cheek. She had seen everything that had just happened. Although she knew the man in front of her didn't have any bad intentions, he had come out too late! He had made Alice suffer a lot of unnecessary humiliation, and for that alone, he deserved to be taught a lesson.

But strangely, this vampire is clearly older than him and has just drunk the blood of four people, so why is his fighting power so weak?

When Ellie thought about that night when he glared at her, she heard a voice in her mind that forced her to turn her head away. Although it quickly stopped working, Ellie knew that this was something that only happened when she was controlled by an older vampire.

Age is actually the most direct criterion for judging a vampire's strength. A thousand-year-old vampire is stronger and faster than a five-hundred-year-old vampire, and can even directly control and influence younger vampires with language. This is the advantage of age, an unchangeable fact.

Ellie is a female knight who was once a guard officer of a countess. But on that rainy night seventy years ago, the countess's castle was breached by an attack from within and without. While covering the countess's retreat, she panicked and took the wrong path, ending up in a dilapidated manor in the middle of nowhere.

A vampire lived in that manor. He coveted Ellie's beauty, and after killing the countess, he transformed her. Then, taking advantage of his age, he forced Ellie to become his slave, and ten years passed in the blink of an eye.

Ellie took a deep breath, pulling herself out of that painful memory, and stared at the vampire in front of her who was suddenly advancing and retreating, leaping left and right, seemingly possessed by a demon, a vampire with a split personality.

To Ellie, Yun Zhe seemed ridiculous and bizarre, but he was currently engaged in a fierce internal struggle. His body kept instinctively wanting to run away, and after he came to his senses and took a few steps forward, feeling a little smug, he would shrink back a few meters. He had been hit twice by the female vampire and desperately wanted to fight back, but his body was too timid to get close to her.

Yun Zhe cursed inwardly, but his body was too timid to move. Seeing the woman approach again, he knew this couldn't go on; he'd be killed by this female vampire sooner or later. The books said that internal strife must precede external resistance, and now that force wouldn't work, he'd have to try a softer approach. Yun Zhe suddenly jumped back, creating distance between himself and Ellie. He began muttering to himself, "Let's talk about this. This vampire doesn't seem very strong; we didn't feel much after the two attacks. Maybe we shouldn't run now, and run again next time we encounter her?"

The urge to escape was still strong. Yun Zhe frowned. "Then what do you want?"

My heart was silent, and there was no sound in my mind.

Yun Zhe was annoyed. "Since you don't know what you want, then don't run away. I'll listen to you next time you want something, okay?"

The urge to run away vanished instantly. Yun Zhe rolled his eyes, thinking, "So that means you agree." Yun Zhe recalled a line from his school motto: "Learn to make peace with yourself." He hadn't understood it for years, but now he was beginning to grasp its meaning.

Ellie watched the vampire leap backward, a sense of triumph filling her heart. The attack had knocked off the vampire's hood, revealing him to be an Aluru vampire. No wonder he was so comical. In her seventy years, she had seen her fair share of vampires—elf and beastman vampires—but an Aluru vampire was a first for her. At that moment, her preconceived prejudice against Aluru, coupled with the vampire's strange appearance, gave her the urge to kill him. Although she didn't want to kill him, it would be a waste not to make good use of an older, weakened Aluru vampire.

Ellie wore a gossipy smile. She had already thought of several ways to use this old vampire after subduing him: gold coins and treasures were a must, especially since he had just received a thousand silver coins. More importantly, she wanted to know how he became a vampire.

She charged at Yun Zhe with all her might, determined to strike him in one blow. Instead of retreating, he met her attack head-on. The two exchanged a blow in mid-air, and Ellie missed her target, instead being punched in the chest, falling heavily to the ground.

As soon as Yun Zhe landed, before Ellie could get up, he suddenly charged forward, pinning her down and grabbing her hands, pressing his entire body against hers.
