Sixty-five seeds of doubt

The hunters' attitude towards Yun Zhe had changed somewhat; it was truly remarkable that an Aruru could achieve such a feat. And lords who could get an Aruru to offer advice, whether Baron Pas or Countess Serena, were also worthy of respect.

Jerok frequently raised his glass, clearly having become close friends with Yun Zhe and the other two.

Although Yun Zhe was slightly drunk, he felt relieved because he thought that he could get away with it this way.

However, no matter how much Yun Zhe planned, he did not anticipate that Livia would take Ellie out to say something intimate.

At the tavern entrance, Livia was lecturing Ellie. She had always thought that Ellie had been deceived by Yun Zhe, this Aruru man. Although he had some achievements and was decent-looking, this guy seemed to have all the characteristics of a scumbag, which made Livia worry.

Ellie was both amused and exasperated. She knew that Livia meant well, but there were too many things she didn't know, and she couldn't tell her everything.

All Ellie could only brush off Livia, "Oh, it's not that serious. I never said I'd choose him as my husband."

Livia agreed with and was pleased with Ellie's reluctance to take responsibility. She patted Ellie on the shoulder and asked that crucial question again: "Did you kill those vampires in Balin?"

Without Yun Zhe's prompting, Ellie hesitated for a moment, then nodded.

Livia gasped. She hadn't expected Ellie to actually admit it. After all, she didn't believe Ellie was that powerful enough to take on a group of vampires single-handedly.

"You did this with that Yun Zhe?" Livia asked her second question as she felt a sudden urge to ask.

Ellie nodded again. She couldn't think of any reason to hide it, and she felt that if Yun Zhe's vampire identity were ever exposed, this achievement could be used as leverage to make the hunters think twice.

"He's that powerful? Wait, you're fighting side-by-side, doesn't he suspect your identity?"

"He was the one who did most of the shooting; I was just firing arrows around the perimeter," Ellie said modestly.

Livia was speechless. The saying "don't judge a book by its cover" seemed particularly apt in Yun Zhe's case. No wonder this girl was interested in that Aruru man.

But that's really illogical! How can an Aruruman be so powerful?!

However, Livia didn't think too much about it. After all, there are many strange things in this world, and it's not impossible for a smart and skilled Aruru to suddenly appear.

Inside the tavern, after finishing their drinks with Carrie, Gerald emerged amidst waving goodbye. They parted ways, and logically, the matter should have ended there. Yun Zhe had drunk with the three hunters and successfully deceived them—it was perfect.

However, historical coincidences are just that coincidental.

On the way back, Jerok kept praising Yun Zhe, thinking that if this Aluru went to the places where the Aluru had established their own countries, he would definitely be able to make great strides.

Livia inadvertently revealed that Ellie and Yunzhe were both skilled fighters, and that they had recently visited Bahrain. She wanted to explicitly state that they were the ones who killed the vampires, but out of a mischievous spirit, she kept it to herself.

However, although the other two didn't think in that direction, Yun Zhe's image as both intelligent and capable in combat was firmly established in their minds. They all sighed, wondering how Yun Zhe could be such an Aruru.

Carrie also held a rather superstitious belief that this Yun Zhe might have appeared specifically for the establishment of the Aruru people's kingdom. This view was shared by the other two hunters, and their fatalistic perspective filled them with anticipation and confidence in the Aruru people's founding of their kingdom.

As the three were talking and walking towards the hotel, a black crow suddenly darted out from the sky, swooped down on Jerok, and landed hard on his shoulder.

Gerald was startled and frowned as he untied a small note from the crow's leg. It was extremely rare for crows to deliver messages; they were usually used for important, bad news, so Gerald hated seeing crows fly towards him. He unfolded the note, which contained a few crookedly written words:

"Two vampires, a male and a female, killed the vampires of Balin."

Jerok stared blankly into space. He handed the note to Livia, then suddenly remembered what Livia had just said.

"Ellie and Yunzhe have both been to Bahrain. Those two, relying on their mediocre skills, just run around recklessly..."

After reading the note, Livia's eyes momentarily lost their light, then returned to normal. At that moment, she deeply regretted her earlier suggestive remarks.

Carrie finished reading the note and asked a question that any normal hunter would ask, "Will vampires help us kill vampires?"

Neither Jerok nor Rivia spoke. Jerok stared at Rivia, trying to find clues in her expression.

Livia clearly sensed Jerok's gaze. She stared at the note for a long time before replying dryly, "They also have similar gang fights, but they don't call them gangs, they call them families."

Carrie seemed to ponder, "Then why send us this message?" In Carrie's view, while the message was important, there seemed to be no reason to tell them. Could these two vampires be the ones we've been searching for?

Upon realizing this, Jiali's mind immediately opened up.

"Who's sure the vampire we're chasing is just one vampire? Why can't they be two different people?"

"Ellie, Yun Zhe?" Jerok narrowed his eyes, staring at Livia, and asked, emphasizing each word. At this moment, a faint murderous aura appeared on his face, and he looked not only huge but also ferocious.

Livia twitched as if electrocuted. He looked at Jerok, smiled mockingly, and then spread his hands. "You believe me?"

Jerok's imposing aura vanished abruptly. He stared at Livia and then sighed with a hint of helplessness. "Livia, this matter is crucial. Those two people might be the culprits."

"Go ask around. I think it's probably just a coincidence."

Carrie finally understood what they were talking about. At first, she was wondering what this had to do with Ellie and Yun Zhe, but the more she listened, the clearer it became. Combined with Livia's hint earlier, it was obvious that Gerald already suspected that Yun Zhe and Ellie were those two people.

"But this is too far-fetched," Carrie said, then stood there stunned.

Jerok didn't really believe his own reasoning, but he felt that such a coincidence might not be a coincidence at all.

Livia's feelings were far more complex. It was clear that Yun Zhe and Ellie were indeed those two vampires, but this couldn't be revealed to the hunters. She didn't care about her own fate; she only wanted to protect Ellie. Because Ellie was her friend and her savior.

The two turned around at the same time, because they both realized that someone was missing from behind them.

In the middle of the alley, Carrie stood there, lost and dejected, muttering to herself:

"Bloodline suppression, bloodline suppression..."
