Sixty-three Ellie's Hunter Friend

When Livia saw Ellie, her eyes suddenly lit up.

Ellie's gaze swept across the long table and then settled on Livia.

"Livia?"

"Ellie!"

Allie was a little flustered, but Livia stood up and hugged her, whispering in her ear, "Don't be afraid, no one knows." Then she said loudly, "Hi, girl, how have you been lately?"

Yun Zhe looked at Ellie in surprise. This girl was not to be underestimated; she could befriend a hunter.

Ellie blushed and greeted the other two hunters one by one.

“This girl saved my life a few years ago. I never expected to see you here in Paz. Are you still a ranger? Where’s your hat?” Livia’s tone rose as she introduced Ellie to the group. She patted Ellie’s shoulder, slightly tipsy.

Ellie gently shook her head, then whispered a few words in Livia's ear. Gerald was indeed captivated by Ellie at first sight, but this shy girl clearly wasn't interested; he silently drank his wine. Carrie, on the other hand, perked up her ears. She had liked Ellie from the very first glance; Ellie's beauty and气质 (qi zhi, a kind of refined elegance/aura) were exactly what she aspired to be.

Upon hearing this, Livia hugged Ellie tightly again. She announced loudly, "What's there to be embarrassed about, gentlemen? This girl is now a knight, and the personal knight of the Baron's daughter! Come, everyone, let's drink to the knight!"

Carrie had only overheard the gist of what was being said, but now that she heard it clearly, her eyes filled with envy, and she instinctively clapped her hands. She was already half-convinced by Ellie's beauty, and upon learning she was a knight, her admiration only grew stronger.

Jerok remained unresponsive, finishing his drink and continuing his meal. He had seen many such female knights; most were unremarkable in themselves but attractive, ostensibly as personal knights for their daughters or wives, but in the end, most ended up in the beds of their fathers or husbands.

Ellie seemed to sense Jerok's thoughts, and her eyes dimmed slightly.

Livia didn't think much of it. She thought being a knight wasn't bad. Although she had heard many risqué stories about female knights, fighting with men in bed was better than going through life and death in real combat.

"Who is Yun Zhe?" Livia looked at Caroline. Of the three, Caroline was the most pleasing to Livia's eye—handsome and intelligent. The man opposite her was hiding in his hood, his face obscured, a behavior that she found repulsive. As for the fat man beside her, well, the only thing he was interesting to do was talk.

Ellie looked at Yun Zhe, her eyes full of questions. She never expected to run into Livia here tonight, let alone that Yun Zhe would be sitting with a vampire hunter.

Livia followed Ellie's gaze to Yun Zhe, who smiled awkwardly and stood up to bow.

Livia hesitated for a moment before smiling. She couldn't help but feel worried about Ellie's judgment of men.

Ellie wanted to back out, but Livia pressed her down to the table. Carrie was already sitting opposite Ellie, looking at her excitedly and asking, "Sister Ellie, what do personal knights usually do? How do you become a personal knight?"

Ellie scratched her head. The main reason she became a knight of the Paz family was probably because she could see human thoughts, but she definitely couldn't say that. "I guess I was lucky and hit it off with Miss Alice at first sight. I think the most important thing is that we like each other. Martial arts skills don't seem to be valued that much. As for what to do, it's actually simple. Just stay within Miss's sight on weekdays."

Upon hearing this, Carrie couldn't help but laugh and said, "Then, Sister Ellie, you came to the tavern, so you're out of Miss's sight, right? Did Miss come over too?" With that, she leaned out of the house and looked around with a giggle.

Ellie smiled upon hearing this, "I only came out after she fell asleep." She then glanced at Yun Zhe.

Carrie glanced at Ellie and Yun Zhe, finding their flirtatious exchange somewhat unbearable. She could tell from the way Ellie looked at him that their relationship was far from ordinary. Countless romantic scenarios flashed through her mind, and she couldn't help but wonder about Yun Zhe's identity. Livia also scrutinized Yun Zhe, wondering, "Who is this short guy? How did he manage to capture Ellie's heart? Is he a knight?"

"My lord, I'll go get some wine." Caroline glanced at Gao, who was already quite drunk, and shook his head as he spoke to Yun Zhe.

Yun Zhe nodded hurriedly, "Take less, the boss won't refund if you take too much. Ellie doesn't drink much either."

Livia's impression of Yun Zhe soured further. Initially, the address of "Sir" had pleased her, but Yun Zhe's subsequent words made her immediately label him as stingy. She couldn't help but sarcastically remark, "Taking a little more is fine; Ellie's drinks are on our tab." At that moment, she genuinely felt sorry for Ellie. This man was neither cheerful nor generous; how could such a man be worthy of Ellie?

Yun Zhe rubbed his hands awkwardly. "I'm so sorry, you're Ellie's friend, and you're all respected hunters. I'm very happy to meet you all. To be honest, I've also dealt with hunters before and I admire them very much. This meal is on me, everyone can help themselves, but Ellie, you can't drink too much." Yun Zhe felt a pang of regret, but if spending money could avert disaster, that would be the best outcome.

But Yun Zhe forgot that Ellie was gazing at him tenderly, and he, too, looked at Ellie when he said the last sentence. Ellie seemed dazed for a moment, then mechanically replied, "Okay." Her voice was different from before, but it quickly returned to normal.

Allie's unusual behavior was noticed by Carrie, who had been watching her closely. Carrie froze for a moment, then her heart began to pound. She remembered something familiar: bloodline suppression! Allie's behavior just now resembled that of a young vampire being controlled by an older vampire. Carrie realized she had found a vampire, and a shiver ran down her spine.
