Something was moving in the woods. A feeling of being targeted by a venomous snake spread through Yun Zhe.
Yun Zhe and Ellie stood back to back, warily looking around. Ellie held a longbow in her hand, while Yun Zhe held a crossbow in one hand and a longsword in the other.
The surrounding darkness grew ever deeper, and the sky lost all light. The entire forest seemed shrouded in a strange darkness.
Yun Zhe could feel the darkness, almost tangible, pressing down on him from all sides. Every corner of the darkness held a slow, malice and murderous intent towards him.
Yun Zhe subconsciously swung his longsword, the tip slicing as if it had struck something. Ellie, unable to withstand the pressure, fired an arrow, but it vanished without a trace, as if it had sunk into the sea.
Yun Zhe had never seen anything like this before and was momentarily at a loss. He could only move closer and closer to Ellie.
Suddenly, a clear, melodious whistle rang out from not far away. Immediately following was an ancient language echoing from behind the darkness. Yun Zhe had never heard that voice before; it sounded remarkably like Elvish, yet it wasn't. But the voice seemed to carry an unparalleled natural energy, dispersing the darkness like a whirlwind.
The chilling, oppressive feeling vanished. The sky twinkled with stars once more.
Yun Zhe and Ellie both breathed a sigh of relief. The darkness was so terrifying and unbreakable that it had terrified them both, leaving them drenched in cold sweat.
Deep in the forest, a white tiger slowly emerged, carrying a tiny human in its mouth and a male elf clad in metal armor riding on its back.
The elf's eyes were full of arrogance and disdain, but Yun Zhe ignored the elf's rudeness and his gaze was drawn to the person in the white tiger's mouth.
Yun Zhe was furious. The tiny person in the picture was none other than Usa.
The crossbow bolts were pointed at the elf without hesitation.
The elf tightened his grip on his shield, a contemptuous smile spreading across his face.
Yun Zhe narrowed his eyes, looking at the elf, then at the white tiger, and then at Usa, who was in the white tiger's mouth.
The elf's face lit up with sudden realization, and then he gently patted the tiger's head. The white tiger shook its head and placed Usha on the ground.
Yun Zhe slowly lowered the crossbow bolt.
The elf's expression shifted, as if to say, "Foolish humans, you don't even thank me. Humph, you even pointed crossbows at me. It's only because I'm so noble that I don't stoop to your level."
Yun Zhe's lips twitched, and then he gave a stiff thank-you bow.
The elf wore a proud and smug expression, tilted his head slightly, and curved his lips into a slight smile. Then, he and the white tiger silently disappeared into the forest.
Yun Zhe lunged at Wu Sha, picked her up, and found that she had only fainted and was not hurt. He was completely relieved.
