Extra: Lu Yannan & Pei Mo Ning (6)

Extra: Lu Yannan & Pei Mo Ning (6)

The next day.

Lu Yannan canceled all non-essential plans for the evening.

The "I'm free tomorrow" that I blurted out yesterday was not necessary.

He just... didn't want to appear to need to make time specially in front of Pei Mo Ning.

For him, as long as he wants, he can always make time.

Pei Mo Ning did not book a restaurant on his own initiative.

Near noon, she sent a concise message with the introduction and location of three restaurants with different styles and cuisines.

Pei Mo Ning: [Mr. Lu, take a look. Which one do you like?]

In her opinion, the conventional rules of entertaining guests are far less practical than taking into account the other party's taste preferences.

Lu Yannan clicked on the link and quickly scanned the screen.

Finally, the fingertips landed on a Chinese private restaurant hidden in the downtown area with an excellent reputation.

Lu Yannan: [Let’s go with this one.]

Pei Mo Ning: [Understood. See you tonight.]

Lu Yannan: [See you tonight.]

night.

The night of Jincheng is lit up by countless bright lights, like an overturned galaxy.

When Lu Yannan arrived, Pei Mo Ning had already arrived.

This private restaurant is hidden deep in a quiet alley shaded by ancient trees.

Lu Yannan got off the car and, under the guidance of the waiter, walked through a moon-shaped door and into an exquisite and elegant courtyard.

The courtyard is not big, but it has a unique world.

The bluestone path winds and twists, dotted on both sides with rugged Taihu stones and a few sparse green bamboos. In the corner, a stone lantern emits a hazy warm light, casting the shadows of the bamboo on the white wall, swaying gracefully.

The waiter led him along the corridor.

Lu Yannan's eyes inadvertently swept across the floor-to-ceiling window with a bamboo curtain on the side.

Inside the window was the private room where Pei Mo Ning was.

She stood sideways in front of the window with her back to the courtyard, holding a cell phone in her hand, seemingly on a call.

The warm yellow light outlines her slender and upright silhouette.

She lowered her head slightly, a few strands of hair fell on her cheeks, one hand naturally rested on the window, her fingertips tapping unconsciously.

Although no sound could be heard, the calm and focused aura exuded by her every move could be felt even through the glass.

Lu Yannan paused, his gaze lingering on her focused silhouette for a moment before he continued walking.

The waiter led him to the door of the box and was about to knock on the door to inform him.

Lu Yannan raised his hand and silently stopped the other party.

He motioned the waiter to leave and gently opened the door.

The door slid open silently a crack.

Pei Mo Ning didn't notice.

She still had her back to the door, speaking clearly and gently into her phone: "...So, what you need to do now is not to repeatedly question whether your reaction at that time was right, but to accept it."

"That emotion is real. It's your body's most instinctive protection mechanism at that moment." Her speech was steady and slow, and her logic was clear: "Try to shift your focus from 'Why am I like this' to 'What can I do for myself now'."

Lu Yannan stood quietly at the door and did not go in to disturb them immediately.

His gaze fell on Pei Mo Ning's back, with undisguised admiration in his eyes.

For the first time, he felt so clearly the powerful and attractive professional charm she exuded when she was working.

It was a kind of confidence that came from profound knowledge and rich practice, which was completely different from the sense of control he had in strategizing in the business world, but equally attractive.

Perhaps, this is what they call... the mutual understanding between workaholics?

Pei Mo Ning ended the call and gently placed the phone on the table.

She seemed to sense something and slowly turned around.

His eyes happened to meet Lu Yannan who was standing at the door.

There was no trace of annoyance on her face. Instead, she smiled gently and said, "Boss Lu is here? Please sit down."

She raised her hand and pointed at the seat opposite, her tone teasing: "If you stand still at the door, people who don't know would think I'm standing there for punishment."

Lu Yannan walked into the private room and closed the door gently behind him.

He walked over to the seat, pulled out the chair calmly and sat down. His eyes fell on Pei Mo Ning's face, and a smile appeared on the corner of his mouth: "Ms. Pei has a large aura when she is working. I am afraid that if I get too close, it will disturb your aura."

This was said in a joking manner, but it also revealed genuine appreciation.

Pei Mo Ning's smile deepened when he heard this.

She gently pushed a plain menu in front of him, her voice gentle but firm: "People with the same aura will not cause any disturbance."

The words fell lightly, but they plunged heavily into Lu Yannan's heart, stirring up a circle of subtle ripples.

The ambiguity is too great and it is too easy to arouse people's imagination.

Lu Yannan's heart skipped a beat uncontrollably, then pounded heavily against his chest.

He didn't know how to respond for a moment.

He lowered his eyes to hide the fluctuation in his eyes, reached out to pick up the menu, and began to read it with seemingly concentration.

His fingertips rubbed unconsciously on the smooth paper.

He quickly ordered a few dishes that suited his taste, and then handed the menu back to Pei Mo Ning.

Pei Mo Ning took the menu, glanced at it quickly, and neatly checked a few items.

Finally, she selected a pot of fine tea from the drinks section and did not order any wine.

She handed the menu to the waiter who was waiting by the side. After the waiter left, she turned to look at Lu Yannan with a smile on her face: "Mr. Lu still has to be the driver today, so let's save the wine for next time... when he's not the driver."

This seemingly random arrangement clearly conveys the hint of the next invitation.

Lu Yannan understood.

He didn't avoid her, but followed her words, his eyes probing as he met hers. "Next time? It shouldn't be the Hongmen Feast, right?"

The tone was tentative and playful.

Pei Mo Ning held his chin with one hand, resting his elbow on the table, leaning forward slightly, looking directly at Lu Yannan with clear eyes: "Not this time either."

"Of course..." She deliberately dragged out her tone: "It depends on how Mr. Lu understands it."

Lu Yannan looked at her smiling eyes so close to him, and his heart beat a little unsteadily.

He picked up the teacup, took a sip, and then said, "How I understand it depends on whether Miss Pei will use her professional knowledge to trick me later."

Pei Mo Ning laughed softly when he heard this. The laughter was clear and pleasant.

The way she supported her arms remained unchanged, but her eyes fell more intently on Lu Yannan's face: "Don't worry, Mr. Lu."

"I never use my professional knowledge on anyone other than my patients." She paused, her eyes moving, her tone a meaningful pause. "If Mr. Lu feels he's being tricked, then is it possible..."

She didn't finish her words, but naturally lowered her eyes, picked up the teapot, and gracefully poured Lu Yannan another cup of tea.

The unfinished words scratched the tip of my heart like a feather, leaving me with endless reverie.
