Chapter 135

Chapter 135

She rushed upstairs from downstairs, only to find to her dismay that all the doors and windows were tightly shut, leaving her nowhere to escape. On this point, she was absolutely right.

The piercing alarm had just made the child inside burst into tears. Sean's heart ached, but he was powerless to help through the door.

The moment the security system was triggered, all the doors and windows in the entire house were locked, leaving Sean standing in the empty corridor with nowhere to hide.

Fortunately, he was prepared. Sean had a good gun, so he stood by the gate wall and listened to the sounds coming from the doorway.

At the door, Lina encountered the others who had arrived. Karl and Michonne had already grabbed their weapons and were ready to fight.

Lena pressed the door lock, and with a click, the door was gently pushed open, but no one went in. Sean nervously licked his lips; he couldn't escape.

“…I have your men on my hands,” Sean shouted from behind the wall. “If I don’t get back in half an hour, she’ll die there.”

"How high do you think your credit score is?" Lina shouted from the covered walkway by the door. "Liar! Last time you even had the nerve to say you sent Daryl away!"

"Believe it or not," Sean didn't press the issue. Anyway, he really wasn't lying this time. If he dared to come in, he should have made some preparations, right?

Just then, Andrea arrived late. She was busy dealing with community matters, but she didn't neglect Judith's safety.

She looked at Lina, who nodded at her. Andrea pondered for a moment, her lips moved but she didn't say anything, 'Leave it to me.'

“Sean? Is that you?” Andrea called into the house.

“…Yes.” Sean was stunned for a moment. It wasn’t because they had slept together before that he had developed any feelings for her; it was just a simple accident. She was still alive?

Based on Sean's intuition, the chances of her surviving were still very low.

“So much time has passed, I didn’t expect this, this is so unexpected!” Andrea got closer and closer to the door, her voice becoming clearer and clearer, “You don’t have to do this, no matter what, we are all in the same camp, aren’t we? I haven’t forgotten that you were the one who held up the whole camp back then, you saved all of our lives.”

Sean's eyes grew increasingly complicated. He didn't know if Andrea was acting or if she was really as foolish as before, but his experience of being tricked by Lina several times told him not to easily trust these people.

“You want to catch up? That’s not the time,” Sean said, releasing the safety. “I hope you remember how I taught you how to use a gun.”

Sean's gun fired at the same time as he spoke, and Andrea, not as foolish as he thought, was shot in the arm.

Startled by Sean's sudden outburst, Lina strode forward and pulled Andrea aside. She had dodged quickly enough to avoid injury, but she couldn't let her try to get close to him anymore; it was useless. That guy wasn't one to hold grudges.

“Tell me where Sasha is? I might make your death a little easier,” Lina said coldly.

“No, you know what I want,” Sean sneered. Revealing his trump card would only make his fate worse.

More and more people gathered around. Lina glanced at Abraham in the crowd; his face was now as red as his hair. She was afraid of upsetting Abraham and giving him high blood pressure, since he was already not thinking clearly.

"I really don't know where you got the courage to venture into our base alone. We could drown you with just a spit from each of us." That's an exaggeration. There are indeed quite a few people in Alexandria, but not that many. "I'll let you go. Go and rescue Sasha. Bring her to the house by the gate before dark, and we'll talk about a deal."

“Okay!” Sean didn’t refuse; agreeing was the best course of action at this moment.

“Throw out your gun and walk out slowly,” Lina said.

Sean hesitated for a moment, but did as she said. He raised his hand and walked out of the room. Sean saw a group of people in front of him, but he was not flustered. He just smiled at Lina, looking extremely smug. "Twenty minutes left. I need a car, or we'll be late."

"...I'll fucking swear at you!" Lina spat at him and cursed in a language no one could understand. "Give him the car!"

Sean was confident and fearless. Although he didn't see Judith this time, it wasn't a loss. He had captured a valuable hostage.

"Why is the security system in your house still working?" Sean couldn't help but ask. How could such a large system lock down the entire house at the same time without a network? He had been a policeman for so many years and had never heard of such a thing.

"None of your business," Lina retorted fiercely. Michonne drove up in a car, glared at Sean, and reluctantly handed the car over to him.

“Take good care of my daughter,” Sean said sarcastically before getting into the car. “By the way, not seeing Dixon has really cheered me up,” he added mockingly, then looked at Lena. “What did he find? Fragments?” With that, Sean slammed the door shut. Lena angrily made a kicking motion at him from a distance, but she could only let him leave.

They couldn't gamble with Sasha's life, and he had already confirmed the security level, so no one would sneak in again.

Carl watched Sean leave in silence and anger. Sean had noticed Carl, but he simply glanced quickly past the much older boy, forcing himself to ignore him.

He once genuinely protected this child and was willing to give everything for him, but now everything has changed.

“Why should we let him go? There’s no need,” Abraham said angrily. “We should arrest him and interrogate him.”

“…In some ways, he’s terribly stubborn, and I don’t want to gamble with Sasha’s life. And…” Lina looked at Michonne, who calmly nodded.

Then Lina patted Abraham's arm again, because he couldn't reach it with his shoulder, which was annoying, "Listen."

Abraham looked at Lina in confusion, then heard the roar of a motorcycle. The gate was opened again, and Daryl sped past on his motorcycle.

"Are you relieved now?" Lina blinked and looked at Abraham triumphantly. She was incredibly smart now, at the peak of her intelligence.

“Okay…but I…” Abraham frowned. He still wanted to go by himself, otherwise he wouldn’t feel at ease.

“Speaking of which, I need your help,” Lina said, pointing to the abandoned houses by the door. “We need to set up an ambush, don’t you think?”

“…Alright.” Unable to refuse, Abraham, with a sullen face, went back to pack his things.

“What do we do now? Do you really think he’ll bring Sasha?” Michonne looked at Lina helplessly.

“Of course not, he might not even come back,” Lina stroked her chin. “Daryl should be able to catch up with him, or be near him.” The main problem is that someone has to stay here in Moore; she can’t leave too. As for the others…

“I’ll go, I’ll go after them,” Tara said.

“I’ll go too.” Rosita volunteered as well. No matter what unpleasant things had happened between them, and they weren’t friends, they were still partners in the same camp and comrades-in-arms.

“Be careful, come back if you can’t catch Daryl,” Lina said after thinking for a moment. “Be careful.”

She trusted Daryl's tracking skills, but she was still a little worried about him taking on Sean one-on-one.

After listening to Lina and the others' discussion, Andrea felt there were no problems. However, there was still a slight issue with the rotation at the Church of Salvation. "I'll go to the Kingdom of God and see if they can send some more people," Andrea said after thinking for a moment. "With you and Michonne here, Alexander's matter can also be handled."

"By yourself?" Lina asked, somewhat uneasy.

“Um, I’ll ask Nicholas to come with me,” Andrea looked around and identified a candidate from the edge of the crowd.

“Okay,” Nicholas, who had been modified by Glenn, was now a reliable member of the team.

“Be careful,” Michonne said, hugging Andrea before watching her walk toward Nicholas.

“…I’ll go check on Judith,” Lina said, glancing around the house. Karl had just gone inside to comfort his sister.

“I’ll go with you,” Michonne said. She was also worried about Judith, but she had been too busy with other things and had seen Carl go in, so she hadn’t been able to focus on her.

The two went inside, where Carl was holding Judith, who had tears in her eyes, and pacing around the room. "Is she alright?" Lina leaned closer to take a look, but she couldn't figure it out either, so she simply asked Carl. Although Carl was young, he had much more experience taking care of children than Lina.

It should be said that everyone has a richer life than her.

“Thank goodness, I just gave her some water,” Carl said, pointing to the bottle Judith was holding. “I won’t give Judith to him. She’s my sister, and she only has one father.”

Lina blinked. It's true that everyone can only have one father, but she wasn't one to be sarcastic.

“Don’t worry, I’ll protect her,” Michonne leaned in and kissed Judith on the forehead. “He won’t be able to take our little angel away.”

“I’ll go check on Moore. If Abraham is ready, let him lie low around,” Lina said, though she looked at Michonne, still a little worried about Abraham’s head.

“I will go with him,” Michonne said.

Lena nodded and returned to the infirmary to continue watching poor Mor. "By the way," she thought, "is Negan coming tomorrow night? Or tonight? It can't be tonight, can it?"

No, when did he escape?

Lina sat on the edge of the bed with a worried look on her face. Based on her recent experience of recalling the plot, she knew she had to prepare for today.

Then she'll drag Negan along, and Carl will lead everyone into the sewers—perfect.

Lena thought carefully: if they caught Sean, could they use him to bribe Negan? After all, Sean was now definitely being blamed for being a traitor.

He must have been even more afraid of encountering Negan than Alexander was, otherwise he wouldn't have been in such a hurry to risk going into Alexandria.

Regardless, just thinking about how he would be in trouble made Lina feel much better.

The motorcycle made quite a commotion. After chasing for a distance, Daryl hid the motorcycle and continued to track Sean by following the tracks. The car that Michonne had tampered with was left aside, and the footprints near the car were also simply cleaned up. He was very careful.

But Daryl was more experienced; he glanced at the surrounding branches and determined the direction.

Rosita and Tara, who arrived later, were not so 'lucky'. They completely lost track of Daryl, searched the surrounding area but found no trace of him, and were forced to return to Alexandria.

Daryl chased the person to a small hut. There were figures inside, but Daryl didn't make any rash moves. He quietly crouched down outside and observed.

Sean was unaware that someone was staring intently at him from outside the window. He was dragging the zombie he had just killed to the side, and then he went to put down Sasha, who was hanging from the rafters. Sasha was still alive, but she seemed to have a very bad temper.

Sean didn't remove the rag from her mouth, but put Sasha down and sat on the sofa to think about how he could use this woman to get Judith back.

After a moment of contemplation, Sean made up his mind. The first thing he needed to do was to leave this place, just in case.
