I called out uncertainly in my heart, "Grandpa?"
Am I hallucinating?
Or was I nearing death, already able to connect to the other world? Grandpa had already come to take me away?
If that's the case, then that's great. I can finally see Grandpa.
Just then, a withered hand suddenly grabbed my neck. I opened my eyes abruptly and saw Fang Lei with one hand around my neck, and then his head slowly pressed against mine, his disgusting tongue constantly moving in his mouth.
"Changming, listen to me. Now start circulating that breathing technique, then bite your index finger and draw a Bagua Taiji diagram on your other palm. Silently recite the incantation with me, then strike the evil spirit in front of you with your palm." Grandpa's familiar voice rang in my left eye again.
Could it really be Grandpa?
At that moment, I felt suffocated. Fang Lei's face was still getting closer and closer to me. Following my grandfather's instructions, I bit my index finger and drew a yin-yang symbol on my other palm. I silently chanted an incantation and slapped Fang Lei in front of me.
Bang!
I saw Fang Lei being sent flying several meters away by my palm strike, crashing directly into the wall, and the whole room seemed to tremble.
I stared blankly at my palm, then looked at Fang Lei by the wall, and suddenly felt a sense of relief.
"What are you holding in your hand?" Fang Lei asked in a dry voice, his eyes blazing with blood-red flames.
"Fuck your mother!" I roared and charged at Fang Lei.
"Don't be impulsive. This evil spirit is very powerful. You need to find the right opportunity and strike the back of its head with your palm to suppress those two balls of ghost fire. After that, things will be easier." Just as I was about to rush towards Fang Lei, my grandfather's voice rang in my mind again.
Upon hearing this, I stopped in my tracks, which was about to rush forward to fight for my life. My eyes were fixed on Fang Lei. After being suppressed for so long, I finally had a chance to turn the tables. No matter what, I had to wipe out this filthy thing.
"Heh, I didn't expect you to have some skill. You actually managed to defeat me. You've been hiding it very well. But that can't change your fate."
Fang Lei continued walking towards me, the blood-red flames in his eye sockets flickering slightly. Suddenly, he moved with lightning speed, raising his withered, wooden hand and thrusting it straight towards my throat.
"Dodge to the left." My grandfather's voice echoed in my mind.
I quickly dodged to the left, and Fang Lei's palm grazed my neck and pierced the wall.
"laugh!"
Fang Lei punched a large hole in the red brick wall. If that blow had hit my throat, I would have been dead.
Damn, that was really dangerous. It seems I'm still not out of danger. This filthy thing in front of me is too strong. I can feel a burning pain in my neck. The force of his attack almost hurt me.
"Grandpa, what should I do now?" I asked myself.
"Wait for an opportunity, don't confront him head-on." Grandpa's voice echoed in my mind.
I quickly distanced myself from Fang Lei, grabbed the chair next to me, and smashed it directly at him. Fang Lei didn't dodge or evade, letting the chair hit him without any injury, but the chair shattered into a pair of pieces of wood.
Damn, that's amazing, how do I beat that?
I ran towards the door, trying to get outside. The place inside was too small, and Fang Lei was too fast; I was no match for him at all.
Before I even reached the door, I heard my grandfather's urgent voice in my mind, "He's too fast! Get out of the way! At this rate, he'll be able to hit you from behind the moment you step out the door."
I was in a panic and was about to dodge to the side, but then I remembered something and ran straight for the door without thinking.
"Changming, what are you doing?" Grandpa's shout echoed in my mind.
At that moment, I had no time to discuss it; I was silently calculating the time in my mind.
Fang Lei is too fast and invulnerable. If we continue fighting, I will definitely not be his match. I might as well take a risk and gamble with him.
Just as I was about to reach the door, I felt a bone-chilling coldness on my back, as if Fang Lei's sharp fingers could pierce my body in an instant.
My body, which was running straight ahead, suddenly veered to the left and I crashed into the door. Fang Lei brushed past me, and when he realized I had dodged, he braked and tried to pounce on me.
Just then, I raised the hand with the Yin-Yang symbol drawn on it and slapped Fang Lei on the head. Fang Lei staggered from the slap, and the two balls of fire in his eye sockets flew out and floated in the air.
After losing the two flames, Fang Lei's body fell to the ground at the door with a thud.
The two balls of fire in the air hesitated for a moment, then hurriedly drifted toward the corpse on the ground.
"Quick, repeat the incantation after me, say it out loud." Grandpa's voice echoed in my mind, "Toot...cha...dang, ling ling ling...toot cha dang..."
Although it was very unfamiliar and difficult to pronounce, I managed to read it out with my grandfather's help.
The moment I began chanting the incantation, the two flames that had been drifting toward Fang Lei's corpse trembled and stopped in mid-air, flickering as if they were about to go out at any moment.
"Ahhh!"
I heard Fang Lei's heart-wrenching screams coming from the flames.
I kept chanting incantations and kept pushing towards the two balls of flame.
"Now! Slap those two flames out!" Grandpa's excited voice rang out.
Without hesitation, I raised my hand and slapped it onto the two blood-red flames.
"Ughhhhh!"
With a few screams, the two flames were extinguished in no time.
"call!"
I was panting heavily; I almost got killed by this bastard.
I walked up to Fang Lei's body and kicked him, cursing, "You think you're so capable? You won't listen to reason with me, don't push me, oh right."
As I was cursing, something occurred to me, and I hurriedly cried out in my mind, "Grandpa, where are you? Are you still alive?"
"Silly child, Grandpa died long ago. This is just a lingering regret of Grandpa's, hidden in your left eye. I will only appear when you are in danger of death," Grandpa said in my mind.
"Waaah... Grandpa, I miss you so much." I couldn't hold back any longer, and this grown man in his twenties burst into tears.
"Good child, don't cry. You must have had a hard time these past few years." My grandfather's voice echoed in my mind.
"Fortunately, it's my fifth grandfather who has taken care of me all these years," I said in my mind, holding back my tears.
"That old fellow really kept his word, Changming. Grandpa's asking you, do you want to learn some skills?"
"Yes, I dream about it."
"Alright, get some sleep first, then tomorrow go to the incense burner in the main hall and retrieve something. This is something I left for you. Remember, I told you not to mention it to anyone, not even a word..."
For some reason, I suddenly felt a wave of drowsiness wash over me, and then I fell into a deep sleep.
