Mo Shuwan pursed her lips, silently reached out and snatched the water. Because she didn't have much strength, it took her some effort to open the bottle cap. Without saying much, she handed the water to Wen Zuo. Her eyes were bright and intoxicating to Wen Zuo, and the temperature on his face began to rise sharply.
Wen Zuo hesitated to reach out and take the water. Mo Shuwan noticed that his face was flushed from the sun and said helplessly, "If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have been able to get here so easily. I know you mean well, but I can't accept your help so easily." After saying that, she handed the water to Wen Zuo again and said softly, "Drink it."
A blush crept up to his ears, and Wen Zuo felt the temperature rising on his face. He subconsciously held his breath, and finally, after Mo Shuwan's repeated urging, he reached out and took the water. However, he didn't drink it, but instead smiled and pointed to the bottle cap that Mo Shuwan was holding.
"You drink it."
Wen Zuo shook his head, made a drinking gesture by circling his thumb and forefinger.
"You're going to drink water from the bottle cap?" Seeing Wen Zuo's shy smile, Mo Shuwan looked at the bottle cap in her hand and hesitated before saying, "I just drank from it... but it's okay if you don't mind."
Wen Zuo nodded vigorously, and when he finally took the bottle cap, the way he looked at it with such reverence made Mo Shuwan seriously suspect that she was hallucinating due to heatstroke.
Wen Zuo carefully poured some water into the bottle cap. It was really just a small amount of water, not even enough to fill the cap completely. He turned the cap around as if he was looking for a certain angle.
Mo Shuwan watched helplessly as Wen Zuo's face grew increasingly red...
Wen Zuo tilted his head back and poured the pitifully small amount of water into his mouth. Just when Mo Shuwan thought he would pour some more, she saw him obediently preparing to put the lid on. A sense of powerlessness surged up instantly.
Mo Shuwan quickly reached out and pressed down on Wen's left hand to stop him, saying somewhat angrily, "Can you not be so hard on yourself?"
Perhaps not expecting Mo Shuwan to be angry, Wen Zuo suddenly panicked and quickly took out his phone to type that he was absolutely not thirsty.
"He probably doesn't want to give me any; I haven't had any water all morning."
Mo Shuwan turned to look at the passenger who had been clutching his hand and screaming for help by the bus that morning. Before she could speak, Qin Lei said in a slightly threatening tone, "Since you have water, you should share it with all of us."
Upon hearing this, the passengers who hadn't paid much attention before subconsciously looked over, and couldn't help but lick their dry lips as they saw the bottle of mineral water Wen Zuo was holding.
Wen Zuo frowned, shielding Mo Shuwan behind him. He stood up and looked down at Qin Lei. Although he didn't say anything, Qin Lei, who had been so confident just moments before, had lost half of his arrogance.
But he wasn't willing to go back now that he'd already made the promise, so he forced himself to shout, "Was I wrong? So many of us are thirsty and hungry, why should the two of you get to drink water? Besides, if you hadn't led us in the wrong direction, we would have been in the safe zone long ago!"
The first two sentences could be considered Qin Lei's shamelessness, but the last sentence was somewhat malicious. It was true that they had walked for a whole morning and had not only failed to see the safe zone, but they had not even seen a single zombie. Everyone knows that zombies were once people, but there were no zombies here, which meant that no one had been active.
As soon as Qin Lei shouted those words, several passengers who had already reached their breaking point immediately stood up and walked to Qin Lei's side, angrily yelling at Wen Zuo, "Don't dream of being a leader if you don't have the ability! If you hadn't led us in the wrong direction, we would have been safe long ago!"
These people took advantage of Wen Zuo's inability to speak, shouting without any restraint. Mo Shuwan's existence was completely ignored by them. After all, she had been dragged along by Wen Zuo in a half-dead state the whole way. In their eyes, as long as Wen Zuo was dealt with, she was not a threat at all.
Wen Zuo's eyes grew colder and colder. Just as he was about to draw his gun to intimidate the passengers, a hand radiating heat beat him to it.
"You dare to kill someone!" Qin Lei screamed, and he and several other passengers squatted down with their hands over their heads. But as they squatted down, Mo Shuwan's gun barrel moved down with them.
Seeing her holding the gun, Wen Zuo's anger vanished, replaced by deep worry. The safety wasn't off; what if she hurt herself?
"Heh, why wouldn't I dare? Do you think I've never killed anyone? Where do you think the scars on my face came from? Did I draw them on myself out of boredom?"
A group of people trembled with fear at Mo Shuwan's eerie voice, mumbling incoherently that they were now in the same boat and that she couldn't do that.
"Who was it that threatened us to hand over the water? Who questioned Wen Zuo about leading us the wrong way? Wasn't it you?" Mo Shuwan said, taking a step forward. The gun was about to be pressed against Qin Lei's head. Wen Zuo, who was watching her nervously, immediately reached out and took her barely trembling hand into his palm.
Enveloped in Wen Zuo's large hand, Mo Shuwan finally felt at ease, no longer worried that she might accidentally fire the gun while trembling. She handed the gun back to Wen Zuo, looked down at the passengers who were holding their heads and dared not move, and said quietly, "No one forced you to come with us."
Several passengers looked up angrily, only to be met with Wen Zuo's cold eyes and the menacing muzzle of his gun. They immediately lowered their heads again, feeling like crying. "You have a gun, so you're the boss. Can't I just be sensible?"
The group of passengers who hadn't joined in also lowered their heads silently, their impressions of Wen Zuo and Mo Shuwan changing once again.
Seeing that the passengers dared not cause any more trouble, Wen Zuo silently closed the safety lock, turned around and returned to Mo Shuwan's side. After sitting down, he stared at Qin Lei and the others squeezing into the crowd with cold eyes before turning his gaze away. When he looked at Mo Shuwan, the coldness in his eyes disappeared, and there was even a hint of joy in them.
Mo Shuwan didn't notice Wen Zuo's happy mood and handed him the water again, saying, "You must drink it."
Noticing that her hands were still trembling slightly, Wen Zuo felt another pang of heartache. He quickly took the water from her, but instead of drinking it, he took out his phone and buried himself in typing.
Don't be afraid, they can't hurt you.
Mo Shuwan shook her head, clasped her hands together, stared at a trampled weed, and said softly, "I'm not afraid."
Looking at Mo Shuwan's still trembling hands, Ke Wenzuo didn't believe she was afraid at all, but she was very understanding and didn't say anything. She just reached out and held her two trembling hands.
The worry in Wen Zuo's eyes was so obvious that Mo Shuwan was stunned for a moment, even forgetting to struggle. In the end, Wen Zuo was the one who let go of her hand as if it were burning hot. Somehow, that feeling of tension suddenly disappeared.
Mo Shuwan turned her attention back to the weed: "I know I may experience many more of these things in the future, and what I fear is that I might suddenly kill someone before I'm ready."
