After looking around, she found that there was really nothing special about this hall. Apart from the more intense dark aura around it that made her feel uncomfortable, the hall could be described as very simple.
"What do they want from bringing us here?"
Mo Shuwan pursed her lips and remained silent. The indigenous people had left after bringing them here and hadn't shown up yet. Although only about ten minutes had passed, their actions just now indicated that they wouldn't be appearing anytime soon.
Sigh... more waiting.
Qu Dan shook his head and said, "I don't know, but the current situation is that those indigenous people need our help, and we won't be in danger for the time being." He paused, looked at the girl standing next to him, and said in a deep voice, "Judging from their reaction just now, Cheng Leikai's disappearance has nothing to do with them. It's possible that he figured out a way to escape on his own."
Hearing her teammate's name, the girl finally came to her senses. She bit her lower lip, didn't talk to Qu Dan, and walked alone to one of the corners of the main hall.
The girl's obvious reluctance to communicate with him made Qu Dan pause. He didn't want to try to win her over, but the situation was unusual. Originally, there were five of them, but now there were only four. If they didn't unite, something terrible could happen.
"I think you should stay with us."
The girl shook her head.
Qu Dan frowned deeply, then turned to look at Mo Shuwan. He opened his mouth, but thinking of her previous behavior, he ultimately said nothing.
Time passed by, and Mo Shuwan and the others had been in the main hall for half a day. During this time, they tried to leave the main hall, but as soon as they had the thought, the dark element that made them feel extremely uncomfortable would rush up. The defensive talismans were completely useless and would dissolve the moment they were touched by the darkness.
A wave of nausea and vomiting surged up her throat. Mo Shuwan forced herself to stay awake, took off her down jacket, and noticed several wisps of black energy recklessly coiling around her arm.
As if sensing Mo Shuwan's gaze, these wisps of black energy seemed to possess a sense of self, traveling directly from her arm to her shoulder, where she immediately felt a bone-chilling cold.
"Why didn't they extract the dark source power from their arms?!"
"Perhaps the power of the dark origin has no effect on them, so they have chosen to ignore it."
The natives watched Mo Shuwan and his three companions with bated breath. They were puzzled to see that they hadn't attacked the dark source in their arms, as they had witnessed these newcomers extract the power of the dark source.
“It’s impossible for it not to work. Look at their faces. Their behavior is clearly unusual right now.”
"Do they know we're observing them, and that's why they don't want to expose themselves to us?"
The chatter grew louder and louder, and just as the indigenous people were preparing to go see Mo Shuwan and the others, a sudden scream came from outside.
"They're here!"
Inside the main hall, Mo Shuwan, unaware of the impending danger, was pondering the silent disappearance of another passenger. At the time, they had all been imprisoned in the water dungeon, which must have been under the surveillance of the natives. However, the behavior of those natives afterward was rather strange.
Who is this other race they're talking about? What other races exist in this world?
Mo Shuwan squinted as she played with the silver bow. Suddenly, she thought of the ominous whirlpool she had seen in the water dungeon. If she hadn't noticed it immediately, it wouldn't have been impossible for her to be pulled away by its immense suction.
"In other words, if he had also encountered that vortex at the time, he would most likely have been sucked in by it without even noticing."
Qu Dan had been keeping an eye on Mo Shuwan out of the corner of his eye. Although she hadn't shown anything outstanding since they met, she was, after all, the captain of a team. Surely she had something... impressive about her?
So, having been keeping an eye on Mo Shuwan's playlist, he heard her muttering and naturally replied, "Your guess should be correct; we all encountered that vortex."
Mo Shuwan raised an eyebrow at Qu Dan and Chen Jiang, who were walking towards her. Since they had both shown goodwill, she didn't know to continue ignoring them. So she nodded and said her guess, "Judging from the reactions of those natives just now, the one who created that vortex is their enemy. The problem now is that both sides are likely to be our enemies. We are probably going to encounter a lot of trouble with such an intelligent race."
"Well, we observed some monsters before we were captured. Apart from the black crystals in their heads, the monsters weren't anything special. What was strange was that whenever we were surrounded by darkness, a monster that was on the verge of death would automatically appear in front of us."
Mo Shuwan didn't speak; she knew Qu Dan still had something to say.
After a moment of silence, Qu Dan continued, "We believe that those black crystals are probably related to the changes that have occurred in this world."
Qu Dan and Chen Jiang's guesses coincided with Mo Shuwan's.
Rumble—
The people inside the hall looked up sharply and saw a group of indigenous people rushing into the hall. The surrounding area was shrouded in thick darkness, so they could not see the expressions on the faces of these indigenous people, but they could quickly tell from their actions that they were anxious.
"Take them away. We must collect enough Dark Essence as soon as possible to repair the world's core!"
