Before the words were finished, a gunshot shattered the silence, startling everyone present and causing their expressions to change drastically.
Almost instinctively, Fu Zhiyan pulled Lu An'an into a tight embrace, using his own body to shield her from the incoming bullet, which embedded itself in his back.
"Hmm..."
Fu Zhiyan groaned, and unconsciously tightened his grip on Lu An'an's arms. Then, he swayed and staggered.
Lu An'an's heart leaped into her throat. She frantically hugged Fu Zhiyan back, her fingertips touching a warm and sticky surface. Her trembling gaze fell upon it, and she saw that her hands were covered in shocking bright red blood.
Tears welled up in Lu An'an's eyes as she hugged Fu Zhiyan, her voice trembling with sobs: "Fu Zhiyan, Ayan, I'll save you, I can save you."
Fu Zhiyan forced a reassuring smile despite the pain, raised his hand to gently stroke Lu An'an's wet eyes, and pressed his forehead against hers tenderly, smiling gently: "Okay, An'an, save me. Don't cry, I'm fine."
Before he could finish speaking, his body gave way, and he involuntarily leaned against Lu An'an.
Lu An'an's heart tightened, and she hugged him even tighter, urgently shouting, "Quick! Call an ambulance!"
She took a deep breath, suppressing the panic in her heart, and called to Lu Yanli beside her, "Second brother, please put him on the couch over there first, I'll stop the bleeding."
Before they could even take Fu Zhiyan from behind, another gunshot rang out.
Everyone turned around in astonishment, only to see that Berlans had quietly stood up at some point. He held a gun, his eyes were cold, and wisps of smoke were rising from the muzzle, pointing it directly at Pei Sheng.
Pei Sheng clutched his abdomen, the blood gushing out, his eyes filled with disbelief and shock. He managed to utter a single word: "You..."
The scene unfolding before her eyes caused Lu An'an's pupils to shrink sharply.
