Chapter 174 Hold it in!

When the afterimage stopped, Xu Ruantang realized that it was Qiu Liang.

He blocked Chen Ji's way, and the two of them were talking in hushed tones. She and Sister Juan were sitting too far away to hear them clearly.

"Sister Juan, what's Brother Qiu Liang doing?" Xu Ruantang tilted her head, not wanting to disturb them.

These two are usually not very talkative, but they look surprisingly harmonious together.

Sister Juan smiled and said, "Your brother Qiu likes motorcycles. He bought one a long time ago and cherished it like a treasure. He wiped it down every day and wouldn't let anyone touch it."

Later, when my father-in-law had an accident, he sold the property and made a considerable amount of money, which helped the family survive for a while.

Xu Ruantang calculated the time and realized that being able to buy a motorcycle so early was no wonder that some people were envious and went to Sister Juan to say that their family was capitalists.

Back then, they were top-tier capitalists. Even now, if someone owns a motorcycle, it's a symbol of wealth.

"So, he's talking to Chen Ji about motorcycles?"

"It should be, didn't you notice his eyes were practically shining?"

Indeed, no matter the era, cars remain one of men's top hobbies, an inexplicable obsession, and a common topic of conversation.

After they finished talking, Xu Ruantang got on her motorcycle, bringing along a cake she had specially made that afternoon.

Before getting into the car, Chen Ji took a final look at the cake before leaving.

I must say, the experience of riding a motorcycle is completely different from that of riding a bicycle; the wind is much stronger.

Xu Ruantang was carrying a cake in one hand and had to hold Chen Ji's waist with the other. There was no seat in the car for her to pry open.

Besides, she was already quite adept at carrying Chen Ji, and it didn't feel like a burden at all.

The car was too loud. She had wanted to ask something on the way, but then she realized she couldn't hear it anyway, so she simply shut up.

As the two walked to the door of the ward, Li Shuyang's voice came from inside: "No need, you can take it. My mom will be back in a little while."

"Comrade Li, I've already made it, you should try it, it's delicious."

The girl's voice was soft and delicate, with a hint of grievance.

Xu Ruantang's hand was already on the door, which wasn't even closed. She couldn't go in, and she couldn't go back.

"Third Brother!" Li Shuyang's eyes lit up when he saw the person who came, as if he had seen a lifeline. "Come in quickly."

He thought about it all night. His sister was right. He couldn't ruin the Li family, and he couldn't ruin Xu Ruantang either.

My feelings for her can only be buried deep in my heart.

But that doesn't mean he can accept someone else so quickly, especially a nurse in this hospital.

I've already made four or five trips to his ward today, either to change his medication or to bring him food or fruit.

Now that it's shift change, I decided to bring the food I made and insist on giving it to him.

He's a guy, and he went to such lengths to refuse her, almost to the point of hurting her, but the girl just wouldn't leave.

Upon seeing Chen Ji and Xu Ruantang, the girl with the braided hair blushed instantly. "You eat quickly, I'll come see you again tomorrow."

After saying that, he ran away.

Li Shuyang: "Comrade, take your things! I really don't want them."

Before he could finish speaking, the girl had already disappeared, leaving him with a pale face as he leaned back on the bed.

Chen Ji stood by his bedside and asked, "How are you today? Still in a lot of pain?"

"No, it doesn't hurt," Li Shuyang said awkwardly. "Third Brother, you don't need to come over every day if you're busy. I'm fine."

Xu Ruantang had just taken out the cake and cut it when Li Shuhe arrived.

She carried several lunchboxes, put them on the table, and said breathlessly, "Give me a drink of water first, I'm exhausted."

"Sis, where's Mom?"

Originally, it was said that it would be Li's mother who was coming, but Li Shuhe should be resting at home today.

Li Shuhe gulped down a whole mug of water in one go, then took a breath and said, "At home, Dad has guests, so she can't leave."

The group shared a four-inch cake, though Xu Ruantang hadn't originally intended to share it with Chen Ji.

Chen Ji walked up behind him and asked, "Don't you have any for me?"

Xu Ruantang: "I heard you don't like sweets, do you want some?"

"I love to eat."

Xu Ruantang: "Okay, here you go, don't waste it."

She cut Chen Ji the biggest piece, secretly relieved that she hadn't added canned peaches when she made it, otherwise he definitely wouldn't have gotten a single bite today.

"Shuhe, I'll cook soup and bring it over every day from now on. Do you want to eat my cooking? I'll cook it while I'm at it."

Xu Ruantang didn't intend to ask Li Shuyang's opinion on this matter; whatever he ate depended on what Li Shuhe brought him.

Li Shuhe was eating a small cake when she heard this and almost dropped the spoon. "No, no, no, I don't want any. And don't bring me any soup. My mom makes so much every day that we can't even finish it all. Don't waste food."

Xu Ruantang looked at Li Shuhe, then at Li Shuyang, and then back at Chen Ji.

“Yes, my mom insists on making soup every day. Third Sister-in-law, you really don’t need to.” Perhaps sensing the awkward atmosphere, Li Shuyang asked, “Third Sister-in-law, our school has auditing spots. Would you like to attend a class?”

Xu Ruantang hadn't recovered from the shock of "they don't eat the food she cooks," and didn't react for a moment.

Chen Ji pulled her aside and sat her down on a chair. "Wife, Shuyang is asking you a question."

Xu Ruantang asked blankly, "Huh?"

"Their school has auditing spots. You like drawing, would you like to audit a class?"

Chen Ji explained patiently.

It felt strange; we were under the same roof, yet Chen Ji had to translate for us.

Xu Ruantang finally came to her senses, thought for a moment, and said, "Can I go anytime?"

"Yes, you can come whenever you want, as long as there are classes."

Li Shuyang remained calm, but he still dared not look Xu Ruantang in the eye.

Xu Ruantang: "Okay, I'll go."
