Chapter 33 Crossing the River
The gods came down to earth and brought dinner.
Gu Zheng is really reliable. Without him, she would have gone hungry for six meals in three days.
"Thank goodness you're here!" He Jing walked up to the tiger and circled around it happily.
"I'm going to pick up some wood!" He Jing said as he ran away. Gao Songyang felt embarrassed as he had played in front of the big boss for the whole afternoon and the big boss still cooked the meal.
"I'm going too! He Jing, wait for me!" He bowed to Gu Zheng and chased after him.
The two men picked up some branches, built a fire, and Gu Zheng started grilling meat.
Gao Songyang felt even more embarrassed and ran to find a small handful of pine cones, "Captain, these are for you!"
"You two eat."
He Jing covered his mouth and giggled.
"What are you laughing at?!" The squirrel jumped up in anger, and the firecrackers caught fire at once.
"Hahahaha, your pine cone is not even as big as his teeth!"
The squirrel jumped up, and Gu Zheng glanced at it. The squirrel sat down cowardly.
"You're right!" "Hahahaha."
The small pine cones are very plump, like eating melon seeds.
It's just that it's a little small for Hejing, and I get tired after eating it for a while.
He Jing still ate the meat grilled by Gu Zheng obediently, it was so delicious!
During this period, Gu Zheng caught two more fish and picked up some oysters.
The cat and the mouse were eating happily.
It’s time for a tea break after dinner!
He Jing started to make tea. Gao Songyang sniffed curiously: "What is this? Can I boil it to drink?"
"This is tea. It's very refreshing after eating meat. You can also eat it directly. Would you like to try it?" He handed over a piece.
Gao Songyang watched Gu Zheng take it and put it in his mouth as if he was used to it. He also put it in his mouth and chewed it. It was a little bitter, but also very sweet.
The smell is a little familiar. "I seem to have seen this before." said the little squirrel.
"Huh? Really? Where??"
He Jing suddenly became energetic and his eyes lit up.
Gao Songyang felt inexplicably shy under this gaze. After thinking carefully, he said hesitantly, "There seems to be one near 7862, Catalpa chinensis forest, No. 05, Plain No. 1."
“???” Maomao looked at Gu Zheng in confusion.
“Same strain.”
He Jing nodded a little disappointedly: "Have you seen it anywhere else?"
"No, this is my first time in the training ground, but my brother has been in here several times, so he must know!"
He Jing looked at Gu Zheng with bright eyes, and Tiger nodded.
The aroma of tea wafted out, and Gao Songyang was shocked after taking a sip. This was a hundred times better than the ones on the market!
"We'll separate after we cross the river. I'll add you on my social media and send you my location if we run into each other."
He Jing nodded repeatedly. This person was a special member recruited for intelligence gathering! It was much more reliable than just guessing on his own!
There was a slight breeze in the evening, bringing with it a little moisture from the river.
It's time to cross the river.
The water level dropped a lot. He Jing thought of the squirrel in the dark and felt a little anxious when he saw Gao Songyang who was unaware of the situation.
Gu Zheng noticed the kitten's anxiety and soothed him softly, "It's okay, his brother has a way."
He tilted his head slightly to signal He Jing to look over.
Under a pine tree in the dark, the gray squirrel raised the simple boat in his hand and nodded seriously.
Then it disappeared.
"There's such a big difference in the personalities between these two brothers..." He Jing sighed.
"Gao Songyang was adopted. The two families were neighbors. After his parents passed away, Gao Wenbo's parents adopted him."
Gao Songyang's current personality is obviously formed by countless loves.
Many emotions in the world cannot be summarized by blood ties.
-----------------
He Jing was a little hesitant. Although the water on the shore had disappeared, he didn't know how deep the river was in the center.
And as the night deepened, the water turned black, swallowing everything.
Gu Zheng handed the kitten bag to He Jing, "Put Gao Songyang inside, I'll carry you over."
He Jing opened the zipper and the little squirrel immediately got in: "Wow! So many delicious foods?!"
She looked at Baihu hesitantly, "I seem to be very heavy now..."
"No, come up."
He Jing hesitated again and again, looking at the mountains in the distance, feeling that he really couldn't get through it by himself.
She climbed onto Gu Zheng's back with a grunt, stuck herself in the front of the backpack, and held the kitten in front of her.
Gu Zheng stood up and walked towards the other side of the river.
Every step is steady and reassuring.
Gao Songyang popped his head out, holding a small cake in his mouth. "Did the captain take you on a spring outing?! He packed so many snacks with you! Why wouldn't my brother be like this? Hey, he definitely doesn't love me! (* ̄︿ ̄)"
"Your brother cares about you very much."
"Humph, you haven't even met him yet, and you're speaking for him."
"That's different. Your brother also wants to train you. You're a soldier, so the stronger your abilities, the safer you'll be!"
The squirrel hummed and hummed without saying anything, how could he not know! Humph! The little squirrel is not a heartless squirrel who doesn't know what's good for him.
He Jing looked at his reaction and knew that he understood everything, and his mood improved.
There are so many people in the world, but only a few can become friends and relatives, and misunderstandings are the most unnecessary additives in relationships.
The water became deeper and deeper, gradually covering the tiger's legs. The closer he got to the center of the river, the more obvious the coldness around him became.
He Jing hugged his schoolbag and hid in Gu Zheng's fur again, and felt a warm temperature coming from the place where they touched.
Gao Songyang also retreated into his bag. There were so many delicious foods inside! From time to time, a crunching sound could be heard from inside the bag.
The little squirrel dug out a small dried fish and handed it to He Jing. "Don't be nervous, the captain is very reliable! And to put it bluntly, the entire training ground is the captain's territory, he knows it very well! Don't worry~"
He Jing nodded and held a small dried fish in his mouth to divert attention.
Gu Zheng nodded after hearing the voice coming from behind him. The snacks in the kitten's bag were the ones he picked out to eat when crossing the river.
The supplies have been placed there in advance, and you can replenish the snack packs once you enter the Qingbai Mountains.
He Jing was still a little worried and looked around secretly.
Finally, I saw a gray shadow not far behind me, standing steadily on the boat. When He Jing looked at me, he nodded and greeted me.
The water became deeper as they walked, gradually submerging the tiger's chest. He Jing was still frightened, and fortunately he didn't insist on crossing it by himself.
The water level gradually dropped. I was already halfway through the journey. The only sounds in my ears were the water and the wind. Time seemed to have stopped at this moment.
The water surface reflected the surrounding scenery and their figures. There were no clouds in the sky, only stars to guide them.
After walking for an unknown amount of time, He Jing felt drowsy and seemed to stop.
"Are we there yet?"
"Um."
He Jing sat up. The towering mountains in front of him could only be seen as black shadows in the dark night, and the stars revealed a sense of mystery and danger.
There was not a breath of wind around, and the silence made people tremble in their hearts. Only Gu Zheng's warmth could bring a sense of security.
They found a lush meadow to stay for the night. Gu Zheng lit a fire, and the gentle flames dispelled the coldness around them, as well as the fear brought by the darkness.
The red squirrel had fallen asleep in the bag, and the gray squirrel in the distance had also come ashore.
"Go to sleep."
Gu Zheng said softly as he quietly dried his fur by the fire. He Jing leaned beside him and stroked his fur from time to time.
When I felt the hair under my hands was almost dry, I said, "Then I'm going to sleep. Good night."
"good evening."
The faint flame disappeared into the depths of her consciousness, leaving only the endless warmth surrounding her.
