It had gotten completely dark.
A furious roar came from inside the city lord's mansion.
"Du...Luo! Is that your name?"
Lord Saril held a piece of copper ore in his hand, staring angrily at the dwarf kneeling on the ground.
"Reporting to the city lord, yes, my name is Duro!"
Duro knelt on the ground, his back already soaked with cold sweat. Although he had anticipated this situation, he still couldn't help but feel nervous when facing him head-on, after all, the city lord in front of him was not a kind-hearted person.
"This is the result of your investigation? This is completely different from what you told me before!"
"Reporting to the City Lord, perhaps I was overthinking things. I didn't expect it to turn out this way!"
"The smelter is open, but only to smelt a few pieces of ore, and copper ore at that? Do you think I've gone to such lengths to keep an eye on the cartel just for this result?"
"I'm so sorry, my lord!"
"Sorry? You think I need your apology?"
"I……"
"Get down. This month's salary will be deducted. Learn from this experience!"
"yes!"
Although Duro was unwilling, he dared not continue arguing with the city lord, so he could only respond and slowly retreat.
Watching the dwarf's figure disappear, City Lord Saril tossed the copper ore in his hand, a ruthless glint in his eyes.
"Cartel, I don't believe you'd restart the smelter for a few pieces of ore!"
He lay back down on the sofa and suddenly waved behind him.
A tall figure emerged from behind the house.
It turned out to be an orc.
"Lan, can you translate this for me?"
Lord Saril called out again to the shadow behind the pillar.
"Thank you so much, Chief, for sending another person!"
"Next, I hope you can keep an eye on things happening in the city. If anyone does anything detrimental to Sandstone City, you can deal with them as you see fit!"
Lan's voice came from the shadows; she spoke Common, so it seemed she didn't know Orcs either.
However, there was a hint of death in her voice.
“Lota'oga!”
Upon hearing Lan's words, the orc let out a roar, which startled even the city lord, Saril.
His original intention was to write to the tribal chief and replace the female undead, Lan, but he did not expect that the tribal chief would not let Lan go back, but instead sent another orc.
No orcs had ever been to Sandstone City before, and his going out like this would cause quite a stir. However, seeing the orcs' towering figures, he felt somewhat at ease.
...
"Martha, Beard, it's getting late. You two should go back. WaWa and I will stay here. I want to get this tunnel done as soon as possible!"
The smelting furnace has been restarted, and we tried smelting for half a day today. The results were quite good, and a lot of copper ingots have been neatly piled up next to the smelting furnace.
"Alright, then I'll head back with Big Beard first. I still want to ask my father about the situation at home!"
After Martha finished speaking, she tried to pull the bearded man away, but the bearded man seemed reluctant to leave.
"Go on, bearded man, it's late at night, you still have to escort Martha!"
Although the bearded man was the one who needed an escort compared to Martha, Martha was, after all, a woman, and he still had to show some gentlemanly conduct.
"What's wrong, Sam? You don't want to?"
Martha clapped her hands, her gaze turning sharp as she looked at the bearded man.
The bearded man immediately became obedient after being glared at like that.
He followed Martha away, only glancing back at Joey every three steps.
Joey didn't try to stop him. After all, he couldn't really break up the couple. He believed that the bearded man would eventually understand his good intentions.
Digging never stopped; he had an unparalleled passion for wielding the pickaxe, and even though it was getting dark, he showed no intention of stopping.
"Wawa is such a good employee! He eats little and does a lot; he's a real workhorse!"
Even Joey couldn't help but praise him.
The two continued digging the tunnel, and they should be able to complete it tonight.
"Meow!"
Suddenly, the little black cat above the pit let out a cry.
Joey looked nervous and immediately climbed out of the pit.
He looked around and saw a torch gradually approaching him in the distance.
Who is it?
Joey shouted in the direction of the torch.
"It's me, Karl, one of the Draenei here!"
The torches went out, and a voice came over. Although he spoke in a human language, it sounded extremely broken.
Although the Draenei here are kept under house arrest, they are not subject to many restrictions other than being forbidden from leaving the tobacco fields on their own.
Perhaps it was because they all wore iron rings around their necks that Leigh wasn't afraid of them doing anything excessive.
"Karl? I don't think I know you?"
Joey shouted in Draenei toward the torches.
Karl clearly hadn't expected Joey to speak Draenei. Having lived in this sandstone city for so many years, he had never seen a maester before, and naturally, he had never seen a human who could speak Draenei.
"There are some things I'd like to talk to you about privately, if you'd allow me to!"
Karl seemed very excited; a human who could speak Draenei might greatly facilitate his purpose for coming tonight.
"Then please wait a moment!"
After thinking for a moment, Joey decided to meet the Draenei. After all, they made up the vast majority of the population in the herb field, and during the smelting process today, quite a few Draenei had cast curious glances their way.
