Not long after, Andrew came over with two cups of brewed coffee. He placed the cups in front of Terramil and Ansheng. When he went back to serve Liu Shasha, he suddenly remembered something.
So he took another bottle of soda from the freezer next to the coffee machine.
"Miss Secretary, I know you're not used to it." He put down his coffee cup and the soda bottle next to it, saying with a smile, "It's fresh from the refrigerator. It's authentic and definitely not flat."
"Thank you." Liu Shasha didn't hesitate and immediately unscrewed the lid and took a sip. These days, traveling with Ansheng, especially after flying to the Liman Islands in the south for a while, under the subtle influence of the locals, her behavior has become much more generous.
"The Acting Secretary and President Ake's spokesperson are on their way. You've come a long way, everyone. Please rest here for a while. If there's nothing else, I have some things to attend to, so I'll take my leave now."
"Acting secretary..." Liu Shasha keenly noticed the words in his words.
"Is that Alina?"
"Ah... yes." Andrew nodded repeatedly.
"I believe you two will have a lot to talk about after we meet. Well... I'll be leaving now. If you need anything, just call the guard at the door."
Seeing everyone settled down, Andrew seized the opportunity to flee. The thought of a man of unknown origin, a kidnapped former UN Secretary-General, and a religious terrorist in a white robe, all three of them together, and the resulting strange chemical reactions, made Andrew's scalp tingle.
Especially the one in white robe, who was said to be a great wizard, or a super warmonger who unified the entire archipelago by force.
White robes, faith, war.
When these three words were mixed together, his first reaction was the jihadist maniacs of those small countries.
Until the Ark United States' stance became clear, the identities of these three men were a ticking time bomb. Andrew was no bomb disposal expert, nor was he the type to constantly place himself in harm's way. He was merely the supervisor of a small Xinjianuo evacuation site, hoping to reap the benefits of these final months so that he, his wife, and his daughter could live more comfortably in the years ahead.
He was not mentally prepared to drown himself in the muddy water.
"Please wait a moment." Seeing Andrew about to slip away, Terramil, who had been silent, immediately spoke to keep him. His Aq language was very standard, and his voice was hoarse and low.
Hearing this, Andrew, who had half turned around, abruptly turned back. A slightly stiff smile hung on his face, but he still asked kindly, "Great Wizard Terramire, is there anything else you can do for me?"
"The Great Warlock's name isn't Terramir. People call me Great Warlock Eskarret, or just the Great Warlock." Terramir didn't move, simply holding onto the armrest of the sofa and slowly standing up. "I want to check out the evacuation point. Would you be willing to accompany us?"
Andrew's face almost turned green. Ake and the people from the United Nations will be here in ten minutes. Why did you insist on calling me? Can't you wait a little longer and let them accompany you?
But since the other party had said so, Andrew couldn't disagree, so he could only continue to wear a business smile and said, "Where do you want to go?"
"Hmm..." Terramil thought for a moment and turned to look at Ansheng.
"What do you think?"
"Great Witch, how about we walk around the area near where we got off? When we first arrived, I saw a lot of people there, and it would be convenient for us to get to know the surrounding environment."
Andrew was a bit puzzled by his words. If there were more people, wouldn't the residential area have more? The landing zone only seemed crowded because everyone crowded together after their numbers were called, creating a higher density. He didn't say this out loud, though. After all, since he was told so, he'd just do as he was told. If anything went wrong when he arrived, he could easily take the blame.
The VIP room and Andrew's office were both on the second floor of the same building. Turn left after exiting the room and there was a staircase. Andrew went downstairs and found an empty jeep, then drove everyone to the landing area.
Because the distance was not far, they arrived at the place where they got off at the beginning in a few minutes. However, the car that was originally parked here was gone. Andrew explained that he had arranged for the driver to park the car in the garage to make way for the convoy transporting supplies to enter and exit.
Liu Shasha looked in the direction he pointed and, as expected, saw several army-green supply trucks, led by armored vehicles, slowly moving through the crowd. Though the convoy's speed was slow, it didn't stop at all. The crowd, like a piece of butter sliced by a scalding knife, automatically parted to the sides as the convoy passed, only to rejoin at the end.
"The purpose of our trip is to discuss aid with your president, Liman... My country, and even the entire southern hemisphere, needs the support of powerful nations like you."
"I believe that His Excellency the President will understand your feelings." Andrew complimented him but was constantly slandering him in his heart.
"Tell me what you want to do here! I don't want to know at all!"
"I want to talk to them," Telamir said suddenly.
"Who?" Andrew suddenly came back to his senses.
“Those people.”
Terramil pointed ahead. The four of them were now at the top of a slope. From their perspective, they could see a dark mass of people starting from here, spreading out into the distance, and finally being blocked by a fence made of barbed wire.
Inside the fence is an empty shuttle landing area. The latest batch of shuttles just left three minutes ago. The high temperature of the engine tail flames caused the temperature in this area to rise by dozens of degrees.
The sprinkler system was running at full power to carry out cooling operations. For a moment, the entire landing area was shrouded in clouds and mist, like a fairyland on earth.
"This is too dangerous."
It was Liu Shasha who spoke up, the first person present to voice her objection. The crowd gathered near the landing zone was densely packed, with a complex mix of identities. Add to that the humid, hot, and humid air, and the crowd was restless and irritable. Even with guards protecting them, absolute safety couldn't be guaranteed under these circumstances.
However, Telamiel was adamant, "I must talk to them, without guards."
Liu Shasha was almost overwhelmed. Terramil was her greatest support. As the man who had so far held the greatest potential to save the people of the Southern Hemisphere, he now had no idea why he was risking his life to conduct street investigations. If she hadn't known that Terramil's physical indicators were normal, aside from some minor age-related illnesses, she would have thought the old man had Alzheimer's.
