Chapter 34 Treasure Revealed

In the east room, Jiang Chengyi was throwing a tantrum.

"What kind of nonsense is this? Xu Wanying told you to bring me snake soup, and you just brought it? Who does she think she is, that you just listen to her!"

"I order you to take this bowl of snake soup to Qingxi Pavilion and splash it directly in her face!"

"Ha, what does she mean by this? Using a bowl of snake soup to mock me, while she's eating and drinking well in her courtyard, and I'm being detained here for no reason!"

"Did you even inform them? I need to see my mother!"

He was locked up for most of the day, and apart from eating and relieving himself, he had nothing else to do and couldn't even leave his room.

Moreover, his personal servant, Zhuzi, was sent out and never returned. His whereabouts are still unknown. When asked, the servants at Shou Kang Yuan knew nothing. He was completely isolated from the world, much like being in prison.

"You brat, are you chewing maggots? How can you speak so rudely!"

Jiang Chengyi was in the midst of a passionate moment when he suddenly heard a roar.

The Marquis of Loyalty strode in, his large, fan-like hand heading straight for his shoulder, slapping him twice, causing him to stumble.

"Useless thing, how come you can't even stand up straight?" Marquis Zhongyi said disdainfully.

Jiang Chengyi shrank back, still quite afraid of the Marquis of Loyalty and Righteousness. However, he was also holding back his anger and couldn't help but retort, "Father, you're blaming me for speaking harshly? But what you said about chewing maggots was truly harsh!"

"How dare you talk back to me!" He slapped him again.

Jiang Chengyi immediately turned into a coward and dared not refute anymore.

"Father, do you know why Mother locked me up here? She won't let me out. After leaving Qingxi Pavilion today, Mother and Jinyu have been acting strangely. Did Third Sister-in-law bewitch them?" He couldn't help but pry for information.

Upon hearing this, the Marquis of Loyalty and Righteousness burst into laughter.

"Don't worry, Dad will take you out now. Your mother is keeping you locked up not as punishment, but because she's afraid you'll leak the information."

"What news?" Jiang Chengyi asked immediately.

"Great news! What a wonderful thing! My son, a pie has fallen from the sky and landed on your head!" Marquis Zhongyi lowered his voice as he said the last part of his sentence.

"Ah, what kind of pie? Dad, tell me about it!" Jiang Chengyi was stunned for a moment, then overjoyed.

Marquis Zhongyi held a high position and wielded great power. Ordinary good things couldn't impress him, so it had to be something truly exceptional for him to call a windfall.

Jiang Chengyi was filled with anticipation.

"No rush, drink this snake soup first." Marquis Zhongyi pointed to the soup bowl next to him.

Jiang Chengyi rolled his eyes. His emotions had been stirred up, and he was eager to know the answer, but his father was in no hurry and even asked him to drink the soup.

"Dad, let's hurry and find some pies! Otherwise, someone else will get there first, and we won't have time to drink this damn snake soup!"

"Drink, you must drink! This was brought by your third sister-in-law. Your mother and I both drank it, how can you not drink it?"

Upon hearing this, Jiang Chengyi became even more indignant: "Third Sister-in-law even brought you two snake soup? What does she mean by that? Is she trying to embarrass me in front of the whole family? I only slightly—"

Before he could finish speaking, he was slapped on the back of the head, clearly from his own father's steely hand.

"Stop your damn nonsense, drink it if I tell you to. If you dawdle any longer, I'll kill you! Your third sister-in-law is the most powerful person now, if you dare to displease her, I'll break your legs!"

With just a few words and two harsh threats, including threats to kill and break legs, who would dare to disobey?

Even though Jiang Chengyi was full of resentment, he could only resign himself to picking up the soup bowl.

He really wanted to ask, is this third sister-in-law Su Daji? Not only are her mother and younger sister completely bewitched, but now even her own father has switched sides.

"Tsk, you're like an old donkey pulling a millstone, drinking so slowly! Do you still want a free lunch?" Marquis Zhongyi became impatient again as he watched him dawdle.

"I can't drink it all, just a little is enough. My third sister-in-law didn't make me drink it all." Jiang Chengyi took a few sips and put it down.

As expected, he was struck hard on the back of the neck again. This time, the Marquis of Loyalty and Righteousness used much more force, which made him stagger forward a few steps.

"Drink it all, or you're not allowed to go anywhere tonight!" he said, clenching his fist so his knuckles cracked and popped, making a rather intimidating sound.

Jiang Chengyi was most afraid of her father's iron fist punishment. This time, she dared not curse or dawdle. She obediently finished the soup, ate all the snake meat in it, and even sucked on the bones.

"Is this okay now?" he asked.

"Come on, Dad will take you to dig!"

The Marquis of Loyalty and Righteousness was finally satisfied. He slapped him on the back again and then pushed him forward.

This time, Jiang Chengyi no longer felt pain; on the contrary, this slight pain only amplified his excitement.

The father and son encountered Jiang Chengzong on their way. Jiang Chengzong looked anxious and shouted when he saw the Marquis of Zhongyi, "Father, you must not sign the divorce papers with Mother!"

Marquis Zhongyi frowned: "Who tipped you off? I've already written the divorce papers, and your mother has signed them. We're just waiting for me to sign them so we can go our separate ways. I'll find you a young and beautiful bride then!"

Jiang Chengzong rushed over as fast as he could when he heard the news, and was immediately out of breath upon hearing this.

“Father, please don’t say such nonsense. Mother doesn’t really want a divorce. You can coax her back with a few kind words.”

"Dare to say your father is unreliable? I think you're asking for trouble. I didn't even settle the score with you for getting me drunk late last night, and now you've gone even further!" Marquis Zhongyi's expression immediately changed. He clenched his fists, as if he wanted to have a fight with his eldest son on the spot.
